Project Brief

Illuminated signs with an 80% energy saving have been installed by John Anthony Signs in specialist burger restaurant chain Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) to reduce the company’s impact on the environment.

Featuring LED bulbs with a life of 100,000 hours, the new signs also reduce GBK’s carbon footprint as the bulbs only need replacing approximately every 10 years - fewer site visits by the maintenance team to replace bulbs, reduces fuel emissions.

The signs were designed, manufactured and installed by John Anthony Signs who developed the long-life signage as a more eco-friendly option.

GBK first commissioned John Anthony Signs in 2005 to refine and remodify signs at existing sites. The success of the initial project led to John Anthony Signs being contracted to undertake all the signage for GBK’s new restaurants. To date the programme includes signage at 28 sites across the UK, 14 of which feature the illuminated energy saving LED store fascias in an elaborate style lettering, which has become the recognised brand of this fast-expanding restaurant chain.

To ensure the programme keeps on track, the John Anthony Signs team work on up to four sites at any one time, providing design, manufacture, installation and project management of the entire programme which includes both internal and external signage.
